FINALLY!

Poor Holly has tried and tried to get first place. She wanted one blue ribbon this year. In the typical series of events that goes with having multiples, she is the only one who seemed to grasp the concept of racing, not just swimming. She is also the least likely to win most races.

Last night I could tell you that she beat a field of expert 6&U swimmers. I could boast that she flew down the pool in unprecedented form, or that she had the drive and stamina to beat everyone by sure grit. None of those is really true. The final heat was just Ella Hilbrant vs. Holly Hilbrant with 4 lanes empty. Neither were speedsters, and really neither seemed to notice that the other was in the "race" both just plugged their way along the 25 yrd pool. When Holly got to the end I said, "baby! Great job--first place!" She smiled, and asked, "does this mean I finally get a blue ribbon?" Yes-my sweet Holly you sure do! For those of you who worry that Ella is upset to have lost, RED happens to be her favorite color....
Blue for backstroke, and red for the freestyle. (I think there were 3 kids in that race)
