Day 12
78 Days until school starts!!
High of 61 degrees today. Wasn't it just 95? The girls practice was cancelled this morning, but we are still on watch for a meet this evening. I am not sure that I am willing to make them endure... cold and rain they just don't enjoy, and that is what this should really be about.
I know Arizona was ridiculously hot this time of year, but the one thing I miss is the predictiblity of it. You knew almost for a certainty that you could count on dry weather when you planned an outdoor event. I feel like all we have done is dodge rain and thunderstorms this year. Ian already has 4 make-up games to schedule for baseball. At this rate he'll still be playing in August.
Holly is not looking forward to the meet. She is sure she is going to get last place. Which means nothing at this level. She did not even get last at the first meet, she got 5th out of 6th. Ian was really good with her. He took her up to his room and showed her all of his 12th and 15th place ribbons, and told her how important time drops are. He explained how long it took him to be a good swimmer, and even pointed out that just learning how to swim well is more important than racing. Holly is stubborn, so I am not yet sure if his pep talk worked, but I am happy he tried.
