Day 6, and Oh What a Day!

Today started out great. They boys and Kevin made a trip up Piestawa Peak, with our neighbors who happen to be out here on vacation. All of them made the summit with no issue, proving youth is it's own reward.

We tried to see Happy Feet, and the girls made it through about an hour before making it a $60 mistake. We then split-up to run a few errands. Kevin took the four little girls, Jess and I had the boys. Kevin got about 3 miles away when he got in a car accident. Yes, you read right, my husband and four daughters were smashed into in the rental van by a guy who ran a red light at 40+ miles/hour. I think we are just now digesting how scary that is. All of them are fine, and the van still drivable, but the other guy's car was in pieces. When I arrived at the scene, Ella and Holly were happily entertaining the guy who stopped as a witness, and Jilly was still in the carseat where she had slept through the whole thing. Hadley, who had apparently been the most shaken up was sleeping in her Daddy's arms. The guy who saw the accident, and Kevin both said the back end of the van was off the ground, and they each thought the car would roll. Praise to God for protecting my family, as well as the other guy who was understandably shaken.

Hopefully day 7 will be less eventful.

PS Jim beat me in the scrabble game, but only by 2 points--rematch time.

Thanks be to God for that protective hedge around your family yesterday! Glad to hear that everyone was fine and the girls were not terrified.

Thanks for sharing your vacation with us--it looks/sounds wonderful!
