I had an awesome girl's trip. The funniest thing about going was that I did not really know any of the girls other than Monica, who invited me into their world, until this weekend. Now I feel like I have 7 "new" friends. Genuinely, wonderful people who I would choose to befriend if I had met them in other circumstances. I laughed until I cried, ate and drank myself silly, and said all the wrong things, at all the wrong times. My new friends all seemed okay with it all.
It is so rare that I get to go away without the family. Kevin and I have had a quarterly trade for about 3 years now, and in that time I have been on two trips. One of them was a church retreat. It is not that I don't want to go away, it is not that I can't think of people to spend time with, it is that it is a difficult, and daunting task to plan trips. This one was so well coordinated, and planned for me, that there was no way not to go. I had a blast, and there were no real demands placed on me. I slept, ate, shopped, and basked without restraints.
So I guess this is a thank you. Thanks to Monica, for coordinating the trip, and for inviting me to tag along. Thank you to all the girls who included me as one of their own, and listened to my problems like they were on the same plane as their 20 yr friendship. You guys all rock!
