Can you say adrenaline rush?

Ian had a decent meet today. He knew a few of the kids he was racing, and he knew they were faster than him. It was cool to see him step up and give it his all. He took third in the 50 free, but was able to drop time, swimming faster than he has all summer. He beat the same two guys in the 100IM to take first, swimming faster than he has ever swam it (summer and winter) by almost 4 seconds. He really wanted a win. I told him that he must have had a ton of adrenaline which led to a series of questions. If you don't want to spend 10 minutes talking to Ian, don't introduce new vocabulary....

He came to the conclusion that it is the same feeling he has when he is really mad at his sister, afraid of something, or swimming in a race that he really cares about. He also concluded that this may be why he doesn't always do as well at practice, because his feeling is not there. I think he gets it.
