Ian has not lost a single race since time trials until yesterday. Yesterday he faced a kid on his winter team who we knew would be fast. By maybe 1 second Ian got second place, and then my son did us proud by reaching across the lane line to congratulate the kid who won. I was so impressed that he thought to do this. For those readers with younger kids, you may be thinking that duh-- you teach them to be good sports and they will be. Let me just say it follows that same logic that we all have before we have kids when we shake our heads at the toddler throwing a fit on a plane, or in a restaurant. "That won't be my kid" RIGHT........
10 yr old boys usually don't cry when they lose, or say that the other kid cheated, but they often overlook that someone else accomplished something good. He was able to pull of a win in his other 2 races, and dropped time in both, so it was a great day overall.
