My girls are deathly afraid of all real dogs. If you have been reading for a while, you'll remember that they are even scared of our own dog, Max, when he has had a haircut. So why is it that they play puppies, they choose puppy webkinz, they carry toy dogs around like they are Paris Hilton, and they had to have Biscuit the fur real dog?
If there is a dog 50 yrds away and 6 inches tall, Ella will cower behind my legs like she is sure to be attacked. Her American girl doll rides around on a scooter with a yorkie in a purse strapped to the back.
Holly does not even want to go to the neighbor's house to play with her friends because of Lucy, AKA Lujo..... She lays on couch petting and talking to her stuffed dog.
Jilly is not really afraid, more like selectively afraid if it gets her out of anything, or more lap time. Biscuit gets tucked into her bed nightly, although I can't remember ever seeing her pet Max (the real dog)
I am at the end of my rope with this phobia. I think a healthy dose of caution is good, but all out terror over something that is not that scary? What is a mom to do?
