Finding a new home

We visited a new church this morning. This was not an easy decision, but after 4 years, we finally took the discovery class at the old church and found that we are not a match. I guess we should have committed sooner, and saved a lot of time. That's not really true actually, there were many great things about the church that we have attended, and I think that overall our faith has grown by being there. We just could not join the membership ranks based on committing to the stance that the church takes on a few issues, and that made it feel all wrong and awkward to keep going.

Kevin scouted this new place before Christmas, but with the choir program, and sick kids for a number of Sundays, this was the first week we could all go. The kids LOVED it! Ian asked if we could keep going there, and was proud that his teacher told him that she hoped he'd come back.

The triplets loved the novelty attention that they always get just by being triplets. Hadley is always up for exploring a new room full of toys, but she will probably have the hardest transition into a multi-age nursery from her skippers class.

I hate being the new people. We stand out in a crowd. There are just so many kids. I am looking forward to the day when we are just the Hilbrants, not those people with all the kids again.

Funny side note. Ella was going over her Sunday school packet a while ago, and teaching her new doll, Edeline. Here is what she told her:

"When Jesus was 12, Mary, Joseph and Him went to the temple. It was far far away, like walking for a million miles. It took them more than an hour. They went all the way up this road, and took a right, then they were there. Then his parents looked all over and he was lost, but not really lost, he knew where he was, they didn't. He kind of got into trouble"
