This week has been a whirlwind of spending money, returning things that are wrong, and getting NOTHING accomplished! Monday we got a great deal on a closeout refrigerator from Sears. It was everything I wanted at by far the best price I have seen. Kevin asks the sales guy about 10 times why the price was so much lower. The same answer was given, "we have several of these left to sell before the new model comes in, so they are close-out prices." Kevin made sure to ask if we were getting the floor model, "no-- a brand new one just like this one, but in the box" was the reply. Yesterday the refrigerator comes, and it is not only the floor model, but one with so many dents and scratches that the delivery guy made us go see it in the truck, as they did not want to bother unloading it if we were going to reject it. Reject it we did, and we are back to square one. After a long conversation with the guy in charge of appliances yielded that we must be idiots, it was clearly the floor model we were buying no matter what their sales staff said, he was willing to not charge us the restocking fee (on a closeout that was not to be restocked anyway). Gee thanks! On to the store manager who finally conceded that he was tired of dealing with us, so he will give us the Kenmore for the same price. One drive up to the mall only to find that the Kenmore does not have the water dispenser, and was a much cheaper model to start with. Then he decides that he will sell us the newer model for only $500 more, which happens to be about the full price that Home Depot sells it for. This is the point where we take the refund, start over, and trash talk them to everyone we know--thus your invitation to read our caution tale.....
The tile store called to say the tile is in. Presto! we are on track for a weekend install, one more thing to check off the list. Kevin drives over to the tile store to find out it is the wrong tile, and has to be reordered. Setback another week....
Do you think that I have any hope that the area rug is going to be made from the right piece, or in the right size? Should I just start re shopping now????
House projects are hard enough to accomplish without the incompetence, or straight away lies of an overzealous sales staff. I would think with this type of economy the retail market might want to up their customer service just a tad to make those customers they do have pleased with their service, but what do I know, I am just a smuck who is trying to put her house back together.

oh man. that stinks. kitchen remodels are AWFUL! we did ours about 2 years ago. the cabinets that were supposed to come in 6 weeks ended up taking 9 months! No cabinets, therefore no counter tops or sink. for 9 months. it was awful. our cabinets had to be re-ordered 11 times! And all of our trouble and inconvenience they wouldn't even give us a discount. so I will take this chance to trash talk - BERTCH CABINETRY!
Hope things come together for you SOON!
