A Soccer Superstar

Kevin often brags that Ian is the 4th best kid on his team. That is a prestigious title when # 1,2,&3 are not at the game on the same Saturday. Ian had a big role to fill this week as his team tried to achieve victory over team #7 (self-named the Stealers- the only one in the country I am sure). Team 7 only had 7 players show up to our 9, and things were looking good. That is until a tiny red-headed GIRL leads their first attack. Yes, it is a boys league, but Judy Ann was not only a girl, but more skilled than any boy we've faced so far. She was a tiny lightning bolt who managed to whiz 4 goals past our dazed male goalies. Along with her team's other 2 goals we lost 0-6. Ian played his heart out. He was the only player on his team that managed to get a shot on goal, smacking the post with a heartbreaking thump. The team managed to remain in great spirits collecting their powerade and Ritz pack with dignity. ( At 0-4 they are no longer strangers to a good trouncing) Maybe next week they will face a team who named themselves the timid bunnies......
