Apparently, Barney Ain’t so Cool

Tonight I was foolishly trying to get some things done that did not involve waiting on the children. It was going nowhere fast so I suggested they watch a movie that all four of them (the girls) would like. Trying to appeal to the three year age/attention span, I suggest the only Barney DVD we own. Last week this would have been okay, maybe not requested, but okay. The following is the conversation which ensued:

Jilly: No, not Barney
Ella: Come on Jill Barney is COOL!
Jilly: No—Barney is so not cool. We can watch him, but it is NOT cool!

First of all, I did not know they knew what “cool” meant. Secondly, I am starting to dread my future when everything is decided by what is cool, whether Mom thinks it is good or not…..
