The girls suffer from the summer birthday that does not lend itself to proper celebration at school, so the the preschool is giving them a day for their 1/2 birthday. Today is Jilly's turn. She is excited to get her own day, not to be confused with Ella's 1/2 birthday tomorrow, and Holly's on Thursday. Ian is, of course, perturbed because the school got their birth order all wrong, but they did not seem to notice.
What is disconcerting to them is that there seems to be no gifts, and no party?!! I have tried and tried to explain to them that 1/2 birthday does not warrant gifts such as the swimming baby they see on TV, or a trip to bounce town, but to no avail... I think they are playing me to see what I will cave to. They have already convinced me to make three separate "special" trips to the store to pick out their own treats. Jilly went fot the cupcakes that seemed to have the most frosting, and trust me we had to check them all.
