I guess you should have to have a license to parent: Mine is expired

After 2 weeks of battling fevers, rashes, coughing, and general illness amongst the 4 smallest of my kids, I took Hadley and Jilly to the doctor this afternoon. They have scarlet fever. Basically a serious strep infection with a rash. Antibiotics for all of them. I feel terrible. I let them suffer with something that could have been treated. They did not have all the symptoms, but enough that I should have taken them sooner. This is what I think of as quantity parenting not quality parenting. Kevin was out of town, there was a lot going on, there is stuff going through the preschool, and I assumed that they probably had a virus that would run it's course. Who wants to drag 5 kids to the doctor, fork over the 75.00 copay, and be told that their kids have the virus that everyone has, and it will run it's course. Came back to bite me, and I now know that rashes are the red flag cause for concern...... The doctor said that even though Ella and Holly are no longer symptomatic, they should still be treated even without seeing them. I guess I got my money's worth out of that visit.

Don't feel too bad Theresa. Aubrey had Strep before Christmas and we didn't know until either until it had reached the Scarlet Fever stage. You just alway asume that the fever will pass. Keep your chin up...winter will be over soon and the kids won't have to be cooped up in the house much longer.
